Planned: help shape it
Teach across time zones. Get paid directly. See your students' riyaz.
RagaDesk is a planned teacher's desk for Hindustani and Carnatic music teachers whose students live in several countries. We have not built it yet. We are asking teachers first, and we will build it only if enough of you tell us it would help.
Three problems we keep hearing about
These are our working guesses about online Indian-classical teaching. Early access includes a few questions so you can tell us which ones are real for you.
Classes that move when clocks change
India never changes its clocks; the US, UK and Australia do, on different weekends. A class fixed at 7:00 pm IST lands at a different time for students abroad twice a year.
Fees in several currencies
Some students pay by UPI, some by PayPal, some by bank transfer, each in their own currency. Keeping track often means scrolling through WhatsApp for payment screenshots.
Riyaz you cannot see
Between classes you rarely know what a student practiced, for how long, with what Sa and tala. Notation travels as photos of handwritten pages.
What we plan to build
Planned: help shape it
Time-zone scheduling
One weekly grid in your time zone, with each student's local time beside it, that keeps working when clocks change.
Fee reminders with your own links
Reminders in each student's currency carrying your own PayPal, UPI or bank details. Your fees go straight to you.
Notation assignments
Sargam or Carnatic swara notation typed with komal, tivra and octave marks, instead of photos.
Student practice and riyaz log
A tanpura, tala practice and a pitch view for students, with riyaz minutes you can see. A guide, never a score.
Your fees go straight to you
RagaDesk would never receive, hold or forward the fees your students pay you. Planned reminders would carry your own payment details, exactly as you share them today, and your students would keep paying you directly. We would have no access to your payment accounts.
The only money RagaDesk would ever charge is its own subscription, and nothing is charged now. See the pricing preview.
Built for both traditions
Separate pages for each, because the vocabulary, notation and tala are different.
How early access works
- 1
Tell us about your classes
Your tradition, roughly how many students you teach, where they live, and what slows you down. - 2
We decide whether to build
If enough teachers say this would help, we build the features you ranked highest first. - 3
Early-access teachers try it first
You would get the first invitations and the founding-teacher price. Nothing is charged until then.
Free for your classes today
Useful whether or not RagaDesk is ever built.
Help shape RagaDesk
RagaDesk is planned, not built. If you teach Hindustani or Carnatic music online, join early access and tell us what would help. Nothing is charged.
